Welcome

The Cross-Border Institute is dedicated to research, education, and public outreach related to the movement of people, goods, and funds across borders.

Our mission is to leverage our expertise so that private and public-sector decision makers have access to innovative – and pragmatic – solutions to cross-border issues.

We bring together the right mix of people in an environment that leverages expertise from a wide range of perspectives, and undertake cutting-edge and purpose-driven research that leads to more efficient and effective borders.  With an entrepreneurial mindset, we are committed to developing a thorough knowledge of the business via multidisciplinary approaches that identify opportunities and solve real problems.

Our Vision – Highly efficient, safe borders that honour national policies and enforce national laws while posing minimal disruption to legitimate cross-border activities.

CBI continues to form partnership with public agencies, private firms, industry groups and community groups to advance the cause of making a better Canada – US border. It also works with institutions in other countries to address the global challenges of border management and cross-border commerce.
